. You've probably read about all of these innovative organizations in some top North American publications - and they're all here in Kitchener-Waterloo. We're on the map. Our innovation is well-known, and it's attracting more and more innovative people and innovative companies to our area - not to mention all of the resources and services required to support a region of this calibre. We also boast a diverse economy - rich in high-tech companies, educational institutions and manufacturing industries.
The Walter Fedy Partnership is proud to be a member of this region - we are privileged to have made design contributions to our region's landscape, and we are dedicated to enriching our region through the volunteer work of our stewards.
As a TWFP employee working in Waterloo Region, you'll also enjoy:
- Traveling to work within 30 minutes (80% of the people who live here do). You'll have a stress-free commute, arrive home less frazzled, and have more of your day to spend with your family and friends.
- A central location-both Kitchener and Waterloo are an hour west of Toronto and an hour and a half east of London.
- We're also less than an hour away from many tourist areas: the theatres, restaurants and shops of Stratford, the shops and Farmers' Market in St. Jacobs, the shops in Elora, and the theatre in Drayton.
- Free downtown parking (and when it's not free, it won't empty your wallet)!
- Higher education-we have three of the province's best schools: #1-ranked University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, and #1-ranked Conestoga College.
- Fine dining, theatre, K-W Symphony and museums (the Waterloo Regional Children's Museum and the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery among others).
- A variety of multi-cultural associations and events.
- Oktoberfest-the biggest this side of Munich!
- A perfect mix of rural and urban areas-you won't have to drive an hour just to enjoy trees and trails. There's hiking, canoeing and white water kayaking along the Grand River; bike trails; and local ski hills.
- Top golf courses: Deer Ridge, Westmount, Rebel Creek and Grey Silo to name a few.
- The Kitchener Rangers: Canadian Junior Hockey Champs in 2003!
- Lower cost of living and more affordable housing.
- Quality health care through Grand River Hospital with a new Cancer Centre and MRI facility, and St. Mary's General Hospital with a new Cardiac Care Centre.
- The benefits of belonging to Canada's Technology Triangle-home to RIM, Descartes, and Open Text among many other leading-edge technology companies. And we're always attracting new investment!
- We're also home to other significant companies: Toyota's Canadian Operations, ATS, Clarica/Sun Life Headquarters, and Manulife Headquarters among others.
- A thriving economic climate--our Region is ranked as third most competitive of north-eastern North American cities-ahead of Toronto, Ottawa, Boston and New York, and boasts a low unemployment rate.
