Union Gas Headquarters
Brantford Union Gas wanted to incorporate employee needs, increased productivity, their corporate culture, and functional components within their new headquarters and customer centre. TWFP interviewed employees to understand their job functions and the relationship between them and then designed a plan based on these relationships to enhance the interconnections needed for customer service, employee teamwork, management rapport, and efficiency. Interesting design components include demonstrations to show customers the environmental impact of equipment, an underfloor air-delivery to improve air quality and reduce absenteeism, and designing the building to interact with the naturalized Brant Prairie site.
Union Gas' land stewardship and environmental action philosophies drove the restoration of the Brant Prairie on its site, and resulted in not only emulating historic ecosystems and preserving 23 rare species, but also in providing ecological, educational and economic benefits to the surrounding community. The award-winning site gained national recognition and showcases the corporate philosophy of Union Gas.
