Combined Air Navigation System Facility, Ottawa International Airport
The Combined Air Navigation Systems Facility at Ottawa International Airport is a state-of-the-art Control Tower, Terminal Control Unit (Radar) and Research and Experimentation Facility for air traffic control built for Transport Canada. Its research and experimentation area uses real-time simulation to develop strategies in air traffic control, and is one of only four such facilities in the world coupled with active air traffic. TWFP provided complete architectural and engineering services, addressing specific technical requirements such as: traffic patterns, siting, radio-frequency shielding, highly sophisticated acoustics, as well as small training spaces. The highly-successful project was completed in three phases of construction.
