Registry Theatre
TWFP worked closely with Heritage Kitchener and various end-user groups on this adaptive-reuse project, which restored an abandoned Art Deco-style Land Registry office into a 200-seat community-use theatre. The work was completed on a limited budget and involved significant structural alterations, as well as acoustical considerations to create the intimate and flexible "black box" theatre and associated spaces. As the structure was designated a heritage building under the Ontario Heritage Act, our team ensured that its important heritage features were protected, such as the terrazzo floor, vestibule, and windows, while meeting structural and barrier-free challenges.

We received a 2001 Hardsurface Award from the Terrazzo Tile and Marble Association of Canada for restoring the terrazzo and marble of this historic building.
